Installing Python3.4 on CentOS 6

I was trying to mess around with some Python scripting to automate my wordpress update via unix and decided to try using Python3.4 on my VPS server that is on CentOS 6.5. First thing I needed to do is to perform a yum installation of some core development tool that includes gcc, gdb, libtool, make and many more

yum groupinstall "Development tools"

After that we would download the latest python from this page http://www.python.org/ftp/python/. Currently latest I can find is Python3.4 from the followng link

wget http://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.4.1/Python-3.4.1.tgz

Follow by untaring the python that you have downloaded
tar -zxvf Python-3.4.1.tgz

Then configures it to be install on the following path

cd Python-3.4.1
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-shared LDFLAGS="-Wl,-rpath /usr/local/lib"

finally installing them
make && make altinstall

After that on your unix prompt, hit python3.4 and you should get your python prompt

# python3.4
Python 3.4.1 (default, Aug 7 2014, 23:15:08)
[GCC 4.4.7 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-4)] on linux
